This workshop reviews the structure and processes of open source foundations. Foundations include the well-known ones like the Apache Software Foundation and the Eclipse Foundation, but also takes into account domain-specific foundations for horizontal or vertical platforms. We intend to identify the different intellectual property regimes, community processes, and supporting internal structures. We review best practices to better understand functioning and effectiveness of open source foundations.
